To all Rotarians in District 6270, March 25, 2020

Rotary has never been more important. As a Rotarian your leadership is vital to get our state, country and the world through this crisis. Every day we learn about new developments and how the virus is spreading across the globe. But you are right in your community and are better positioned than any to understand the specific needs close to you. I ask you to provide leadership, use of your skills, experience and draw on your connections to business, non-profits and government. It is yet another opportunity for Rotary to step up and make a difference.

We have been asked to stay at home, if we do not provide essential services, and we need to do our part and respect the social distancing. But we still need to take care of our families, our elders and our fellow Rotarians.
Provide support for your Rotary family. Try to help our younger Rotarians with children that are home from school. Call on the elderly members of your clubs. When you go shopping anyway, buy for a member not able to shop, and bring it to the doorstep. It so important we stay in touch.

Clubs have cancelled their meetings and events, but in this day and age, we have many new ways of getting together. Several Clubs are already meeting on the net through platforms like ZOOM, recording speakers and posting them on YouTube or Facebook. We need to stay connected.

For many of us this is new territory. But we must challenge ourselves, maybe go outside our comfort zone. It is never too late to learn and when this is over, we have found new efficient ways to communicate and we will all be better for it. It is part of the future.

The District has signed up with ZOOM and will be conducting District meetings, seminars and educational sessions on this platform. Don Griffing and a group of Rotarians has volunteered to help Clubs sign up for an account. Rotary has a discount program with ZOOM. (Discount code: ZOOMROTARY)

A lot of good ideas, needs and requests are floating around between Clubs and Districts. This folder is where Clubs and individuals can park ideas, best practices and recommendations to other Clubs.

Our National Government, State and City Governments have many agencies, experts and resources we can tap into. Rotary International is also offering guidance and resources. Please check in on Rotary.org, “My Rotary” on a regular basis. Let’s share these resources in the new folder on the District website, below are examples of resources you can tap into.

Our communities need Rotary and Rotary needs you. It is more important than ever we retain our membership. The members of Rotary are the leaders in the communities with experiences and skillsets that are not only needed right now, but also, when we later are rebuilding.

Stay a member please, we need you.

Although our resources are limited, the District will try to support your efforts to the best of its abilities. We will get through this very difficult time, but in the meantime, let’s step up, stay in touch and let Rotary Connect the World.

Thanks for all your hard work.
