June 2017 - Rotary Fellowships

Before District Conference 2017 gets too far behind us, I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every person who helped make it the success that it was.  Putting together a conference of this size and scope is no easy task - it took the work and effort of many people.  THANK YOU!!  For those of you who attended, there were many opportunities for networking, fellowship and just plain FUN!  We hope you enjoyed the great variety of activities, speakers and wonderful food!  For those who were unable to make it, District Conference 2018 will be here before you know it.  It will bring with it many opportunities to become involved.  Once you say, "yes," to helping out, you will experience Rotary at a whole new level.  Mark May 4-6, 2018 on your calendar today.
Speaking of fun and fellowship, June is Rotary Fellowships Month.  Rotary Fellowships began informally in 1928 when Rotarians with a shared interest in the language Esperanto joined together.  In 1947, a group of Rotarian boating enthusiasts began flying the Rotary flag from their crafts, calling themselves the International Yachting Fellowship of Rotarians; this fellowship now boasts the longest continuous existence.  The scope of Rotary Fellowships has greatly changed over the years, but today their purpose is still to unite Rotarians in friendship and provide venues for enjoying their favorite recreational or professional activities.

In closing, I thank you for the many ways you have included me in your club celebrations, fundraisers and meetings this past year.  Let's go into our 2017-18 year continuing to "Serve Humanity" and "Making a Difference" in the world we leave to our children.
