Congratulations to District 6270

District 6270 was the recipient of the ZONE 28 Director's Polio Award, and was also awarded a certificate of appreciation for its generous contribution of District Designated Funds to End Polio Now: Make History Today Campaign. These awards were accepted by the 2014-2015 District Governor Mary Seiser, and the District Foundation Chair PDG Mike Slawny.

Rotary ZONE Institute was held from September 9-13 in Detroit, MI for Rotarians from the twenty-eight districts in Zones 28-29.  The institute  included leadership training, inspirational speakers from all over the world, an excellent concert by two young men from Belgium, and of course - Motown music by The Contours and Martha Reeves and the Vandellas.  It was fun to see the teenagers and young Rotarians  "Dancing in the Street" along with those of us who might actually know the songs from their original release dates!

From our district, DGE Julie Craig and DGN Jeff Reed spent time training for their upcoming leadership positions.  In addition, our own Zone coordinator, Tamie Koop,  as well as DG Karen White, past district governors, several committee chairs,  and emerging leaders were in attendance.

Also, in the photo below, PDG Mary Beth Seiser has her picture taken with Princess Zebu Jilani from Pakistan.  Zebu is the granddaughter of the last ruler of the Swat region before it was taken over by Pakistan.  She started the Rotary Club of Swat and she and her family are working to rebuild schools and prove the health and the lives of the women and children in Pakistan.
